The sleeping Lady Mountain Lions (SLML) Club annually awards scholarships to local students who received award scholarships from the preceding year. The number and dollar amounts of each scholarship are determined on an annual basis by the SLML Club. Scholarships can range from $250 to $1500, depending on funds available each year. They can only reapply three times after the initial award given to them their senior year of high school, for a total of four awards.
The SLML Club looks at all scholarship applications received by the due date listed below. After review by the scholarship committee, recommendations will be presented to the SLML Club’s Board of Directors for award decisions.
The SLML Club uses the following guidelines in selecting scholarship recipients.
Ÿ Financial need: Applicants who have financial need brought on by family situation, medical problems or income will carry the heaviest weight in the decision process.
Ÿ Community Service: Applicants who show participation in the community through positive involvement.
Ÿ Grade Point Average: In order to be considered, applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in all classes to receive the award.
Ÿ Residency: Applicants may attend school outside of Alaska; however, they must continue to be an Eagle River/Chugiak/Peters Creek resident to be considered for a scholarship.
All applications must be postmarked or delivered to the Sleeping Lady mountain Lions Club no later than by March 1, 2018.
